NAE™ Project: Update

Featured Sponsors

Friday, November 5, 2010

Ladies and Gentlemen:

This past week Ed Shadle and Keith Zanghi have been crisscrossing the United Sates as keynote speakers for THE POINTS BEYOND TOUR for Geomagic. Events were held in Detroit and Dallas. The two showed the very popular Challenging the World Land Speed Record presentation and demonstrated how we use Geomagic Software for converting 3D Digitizing to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).

Although Ed and Keith won't be at the remaining shows, you can sign up for a session in the following upcoming cities:

Los Angeles, CA November 8 - 9, 2010

Orlando, FL November 15 - 16, 2010

Boston, MA November 17 - 18, 2010

Frankfurt, Germany November 29 - 30, 2010

Detroit - November 1st & 2nd

The Detroit Show was held in the beautiful Hyatt Hotel in Dearborn Michigan. With the world famous Ford Dearborn Proving Grounds about a mile away, the event attracted users from the big three automotive companies and suppliers along with representatives from local Colleges and Universities. Even some big name NASCAR Teams were in attendance.

The first day of the event was for Geomagic Partners: Those people who market and sell the Geomagic Suite of software tools. Ed and Keith met with each of them, giving them a taste of what they were going to see and hear the following day. That night, everyone was bused to the Motor City for an evening of networking. The Detroit Beer Company provided the atmosphere for networking opportunities for all involved.

On Tuesday following introductions and an overview of Geomagic and their founder Ping Fu, Ed and Keith assume their role as Keynote Speakers. The presentation ran a little over their time allotment, but no one fell asleep and a lot of good questions followed!

Besides Geomagic, two other Eagle sponsors were on hand: Capture 3D and FARO Technologies. Representatives and products were on display from each so participants could learn about these amazing technologies.

After the show, Rob Keogh, John Lockhart, Gina Strickland, Ed and Keith made a dash to the Detroit Airport and proved that you can put five passengers into a Lincoln Town Car with their entire luggage!

Dallas - November 3rd & 4th

The agenda on Wednesday was pretty much a re-run of what happened in Detroit. Only this time Ed and Keith met with the Geomagic Partners from the mid West and Texas.

The nights networking event was going to be unique and as we found out later, one of the most popular. All Geomagic Partners hopped on a bus and drove into downtown Dallas and were treated to a hockey game between the NHL Dallas Stars and the Pittsburg Penguins. Probably one of the best networking events we have ever been to! Everyone had a great time. Team building and friendships were made.

The old saying "we went to the fights and a hockey game broke out" was a great description of the game! Dallas won 5-2. The American Airlines Center is one of the best with the largest 1080i big screens digital sound of any arena. Between those and The Dallas Ice Girls, it was a night of spectacular entertainment, fun and networking.

Chris Sideroff & Rick Matus

It was a special treat in Dallas as Ed and Keith met up with one of our new sponsors, Chris Sideroff and Rick Matus from Pointwise Software. Pointwise is a CFD meshing program for flow solvers.

Another North American Eagle™ sponsor on hand in Dallas was Johan Gout, Director of Operations for Capture 3D. Capture 3D supplies the ATOS 3D Digitizer and technical help for the Eagle team.

The team would like to thank the Geomagic Team of Rob Keogh, John Lockhart, Kamal Khan, Mike Facello and Gina Strickland who orchestrated the entire event. Special thanks to Gina who was a great hostess for the Geomagic team and was attentive to all our needs.

Ed and Keith would like to personally thank Troy Ashby from Geomagic for all his help in our success and being able for us to share that on THE POINTS BEYOND TOUR. Troy has been working very close with Don Mitchell on developing surfaces from all of our scans.

This will be the 2nd time the two have made presentations in Dallas and Detroit. The first time in Dallas was on March 31, 1998 when they presented at the American Chemical Society National Convention. The two were in Detroit, along with Steve Wallace On April 14, 2008 for the TATA Technologies (Formerly INCAT) conference in nearby Ypsilanti, Michigan.
