Ladies and Gentlemen:

Palo Alto California is home to many high tech companies like Hewlett-Packard, Tesla Motors, IDEO and Facebook.  The city includes portions of Stanford University and was the incubator to several other companies like Google, Logitech, Intuit, Sun Microsystems and PayPal.  It is one of many cities that makes up what is known as Silicon Valley. Among all the giants are thousands of other high tech companies and one of them on the leading edge of research is Victor Aviation. Today Steve Green, Ed Shadle and Keith Zanghi traveled to Palo Alto California to meet with Victor Aviation and see the metallurgical analysis that is taking place on many of the North American Eagle™ components.

After arriving at Victor Aviation and getting a cup of coffee, Victor Sloan was eager to introduce us to Brendan Murry, owner and driver of the Running Wild Top Fuel Dragster.  The car is a rolling laboratory for Victor Aviation as Brendan pushes the internal components to  maximum conditions.  Victor Aviation became the only FAA licensed manufacturer to use cryogenic treatment, because Victor Sloan didn't stop at discovering defects through cryogenic NDT. He wanted to pursue defect analysis in a scientific way and find out why components fail.  This is why nearby NASA Ames Research Center uses his services often.  Rolling laboratories like Brendan's AA/FD, and now the North American Eagle™, help him analyze why component failures happen, under the most extreme conditions.

Victor Aviation knows people!  Over the years Victor has sought the best and brightest in the scientific world.  One company he works with often is Stanford Research Systems out of Sunnyvale, CA.

Next Victor Sloan and his team analyzed the balance of the front wheel assembly and paid Steve Green and Eagle Machine, Inc a big compliment when they told him the results of the test were excellent and far better than they expected!  Everyone gave a big round of applause to Steve for the fine machine work he perform on the wheel assembly.

Next Eugen Francu from Petersen Precision of Redwood City, CA gave his presentation on precise measurements he made using a Zeiss CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine)  Eugen is the Quality Manager at Petersen Precision.  He took with him the SolidWorks file of the wheels and will compare them with the actuals once he gets back to the labs.

Ron Alers was up next.  He is the President of Sonic Sensors, a division of EMAT Ultrasonics,Inc of San Luis Obispo, CA.  Ron has developed equipment that creates eddy currents that can analyze any metal object  and determine if there are cracks, inclusions or other defects.

On hand throughout the day was John Segreto from NASA Ames Research Center.  He is working on the James Webb Telescope  that will be launched in 2014.  John is working with Victor Aviation because of their experience with cryogenics.

Rozalia Papp and Corinne Chovet from Air Liquide were in attendance watching their Liquid Nitrogen being used to perform all the cryogenic tests. Air Liquide is the World Leader in Industrial gases for industry, health and the environment. With over 12 billion in sales and 42,300 employees, Air Liquide is constantly looking for new markets and opportunities such as Victor Aviation and the North American Eagle™.
