Ladies and Gentlemen:

Today could be described as a day of functional tests as Ed Shadle, Chris Green, Rhyley Sparks, Jon Higley, John Winchester, Tom Tiede and Keith Zanghi spent the day working on the front steering system.

In the previous week we had removed the front steering box and completely disassembled the entire steering and suspension system. What was originally going to be clean up and removal of the effects of the corrosive Black Rock playa over the years, turned out to be a good decision. During the course of the work we found cracked fittings and modified some things that will make the car much easier to maintain.

After a full day of work the team fired up the onboard hydraulic system. After a bleeding of all the air out of the system, the steering works great! Next week we will reinstall the steering box, and hook up the steering linkages. We would like to thank Hydraulic Repair and Design for all their work this past week.

Don Mitchell stopped by to take some measurements of the steering components. He is digitizing and making us built drawings of the entire front suspension system. Special thanks to Chris Maycock at Eagle Machine, Inc in Abbottsford BC for supplying the Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks drawing files. Chris created the initial design drawings. Don will bring them into CATIA and add it to our archive of drawings.

Big news this week! Ed, Keith and Steve Wallace will be traveling to Orlando, FL in early April to give a presentation at COE. We will have more information for you in the coming weeks.
