Ladies & Gentlemen:

Jon Higley and Russell Garlow were once again conducting their educational outreach program today by visiting and presenting to Junior High school students about the NAE™ project.

Each of Miss Tice's four Algebra classes at Frontier Jr. High in Graham, WA, were treated to a full hour presentation on the Science, Innovative Technology, and Math related to and involved with the land speed challenger car, the North American Eagle™, with an underlying theme of a "Yes We Can" attitude that solves problems and breaks barriers.

Students were allowed to experience one of the car's innovative technologies - magnetic braking - by moving a demo magnet back and forth on a slab of aluminum and seeing and feeling the effects of the eddy current generated, thereby moving the slab of aluminum across the desk's surface. At the end of the presentation, a Q&A session was provided.

This is part of our ongoing outreach program to share with our future problem solvers what it takes to tackle engineering problems, seemingly insurmountable odds, and how we've overcome them by "thinking outside the box". We believe that if students have positive role models through which they can believe in their capabilities to tackle their own problems, then we are helping to better our nation's future.

If you're a teacher in the Puget Sound region who is interested in booking a presentation, we invite you to go here to contact our team teacher of 30 years, Jon Higley. He looks forward to hearing from you.

We invite you to add a comment, or remark, about our program or the site.
