Ladies and Gentlemen:

Team NAE met today to continue work on the North American Eagle; preparing for exciting times and speedy test runs this summer by the former F-104 Starfighter jet plane; now a jet car on wheels. A new world land speed record is in sight. Ed Shadle, Jon Higley, Von Armstrong, Keith Zanghi, John Drury, Steve Wallace and Larry Martinson were on hand.

Special guests today were Laura Sawicki, a guest of Steve Wallace; and Larry Martinson's son, Dustin and his friend Tyler Mullins.  Laura got the walk around tour by Jon Higley as a first time visitor.

Steve was busy today testing the on board GNS system and area broadband, with its main components provided by Topcon Positioning Systems and Tropos Networks.  It has been idle for several months and is being double checked to assure that the all important speed data is acquired during the summer desert runs.  Steve put Laura to work early on in helping in his systems tests.

Facebookers, if you haven't already noticed, webmaster Jon Higley has been engaged in a significant overhaul of our web site's look. It is a work in progress and Jon is devoting countless hours of home time to make our website more user friendly and informative.  His laptop computer was humming today at the hangar as well. You can be a facebook friend and/or simply go directly to our website to keep up to date.  Do it.

Ed and Keith summed up their appearance at the COE 2011 Annual PLM Conference and TechniFair last weekend in Orlando, Fl.  The conference was a huge success and they met and made friends with a number of attendees who are interested in our project and in becoming directly involved. Look for a special mid-week update with the highlights.

The mid-wheel wells and their ballistic shield construction is nearing completion. The closure panels were getting Keith's attention during most of the work day.  Weather wise...it didn't rain.  The sun occasionally peeked through the heavy clouds dominating the skies today.

The above image is yet another in the growing collection of late '50s era images we've acquired of the fuselage that is now the North American Eagle™.
