NAE™ Project: Update

Featured Sponsors

April 3, 2010

Ladies and Gentlemen:

It was a cold rainy Easter Weekend as Bill Eckberg, Dave Selby, Chris Greene, Rich Pengelley, Larry Martinson, Omar Chramosta, Keith Zanghi and Ed Shadle spent most of the day preparing the car for another test session next week.

Testing electrical systems and fuel pumps was on the list of tasks this weekend. By the end of the day the team performed a wet motor test. This is where the car is almost started by spinning the motor up and running fuel through it, but not turning on the igniters.

With the 56 foot long Eagle securely chained down to the inside of the LevX race car transporter, the American Valley Aviation Start Cart was fired up and air was pumped into the 42,500 hp S&S Turbine Services LM-1500 turbojet engine. The test was a complete success and the team will meet again next weekend to do it all over again....this time igniting the fuel!
